This course, although an introduction to systems thinking and systems dynamics, promises to challenge the way you think. Surely, it will help you to think anew and build lasting change. You will see what I mean when we get into our discussion. This course is highly interactive and will build on the knowledge you acquire on Introduction to Strategic Foresight. This course will demand that you take time aside to think through complexities. Additionally, you will be participating with other students in breakout rooms learning, building, and sharing your work. In short, you will be expected to participate in the class discussions, build relationship diagrams, present some of your (and team) discoveries, and create portrays of systems using Causal Loops Diagrams (CLDs). Practicing these things will vastly improve your critical thinking and decision-making capabilities drastically!

Objective #1 Recognize problem’s variables & interdependencies
Objective #2 Recognize components of systems
Objective #3 Understand how system’s structure determines behavior
Objective #4 Draw simple Causal Loop Diagrams
Objective #5 Apply at least one brainstorming technique and cluster ideas into patterns to identify potential root causes and begin the development and testing of potential courses of action
